About Tōtika 

Tōtika is the Health & Safety Prequalification Scheme that has been developed and implemented by Construction H&S (CHASNZ) to create a standard for all health and safety pre-qualification systems in the Construction sector. 

SHE PreQual are a Tōtika Gold accredited member and accordingly have adopted the Tōtika question set and criteria for contractors who would like to be Tōtika approved.

SHE PreQual are also maintaining our LASS PreQual questions sets and criteria and this will continue as SHE PreQual.

Benefits of SHE PreQual Tōtika

Tōtika provides a common standard for Pre-Qualification across NZ, alleviating the requirement for contractors to perform multiple pre qualifications with multiple suppliers and schemes, this in turn provides a reduction in costs and duplication of effort. Tōtika ensures that the process for pre qual is robust and delivered by suitably qualified assessors.

LASS PreQual V SHE Tōtika PreQual

There are some major differences in the 2 systems.

 

Category and Pricing

  • Contractors under Tōtika fit into one of 4 categories based on their size, work activity and maximum contract as opposed to LASS PreQual which has 3 categories.
  • Use our category assessment tool on the Tōtika Pricing tab if you wish to check your category and also check the high-risk activity list

Validity

  • A SHE Tōtika PreQual is valid for 2 years for sole traders and category 1 and 1 year for category 2 and 3. This varies from the LASS PreQual which is very 2 years irrespective of category.

Outcome

  • Tōtika has a scoring system with a 60% pass mark as developing, anything less will be a fail.

Industry specific

  • Tōtika has been designed for use specifically in construction, however it may well extend to other industries in the future.

Upon completion of your evaluation, you will be provided with a report which gives a weighted score against the questions. The assessment can help drive your business towards the continuous improvement of your Health & Safety. Your assessments are undertaken by qualified assessors, who will always treat you professionally, fairly and with empathy throughout the process.
